Jesus Came To Give Us New Hearts!

In Matthew 15 Jesus is confronted by an official group of Pharisees from Jerusalem. They observe Jesus and his disciples eating without washing their hands.

According to the Pharisees this makes Jesus and his disciples "unclean." Jesus, however will go on to say that it's not dirty hands that defiles a person but a dirty heart.

God is concerned about our hearts... and the Gospel is the good news that Christ died and rose again to give us new hearts. Here are a few examples of how God's word focuses on our hearts:

What is the first thing we need in order to be Christians?
A new heart (Ezekiel 36:26)

What is the sacrifice that God asks us to bring Him?
A broken and a contrite heart (Psalm 51:17)

Where does God look?
The Lord looks on the heart (I Samuel 16:7)

What is genuine obedience?
To obey from the heart (Romans 6:17)

What is saving faith?
To believe with the heart (Romans 10:9)

Where does Christ dwell?
Christ dwells in our hearts (Ephesians 3:17)

Where does God pour his love?
Through the Holy Spirit into our hearts (Romans 5:5)

Where does the true worship of God originate?
Worship from the heart (Matthew 15:8)

Praise God for the heart changing power of the Gospel!
